Roger W. Birkman, Ph.D, Founder/Chairman:

Dr. Roger Birkman, who founded the company in the early 1950s, remains actively involved in the business as its Chairman. Returning from WWII as a B-17 bomber pilot, Roger studied psychology on the GI bill at the University of Houston. Intrigued by people in the workplace and their perceptions, he completed his doctoral dissertation at the University of Texas by writing his "Test of Social Comprehension". Roger and his young wife Sue moved from Austin to Houston, Texas and eventually started a management consulting practice (Birkman and Associates) based on the social inventory which became known as The Birkman Method®.

Today, sixty years on, their dream has grown into an international business. The Birkman Method questionnaire and report sets have been translated into a multiple of languages and are used by major corporations and a network of Birkman-certified consultants that span the globe. Roger, who turned 90 in 2009, remains passionate about his work and is still fascinated by studying people and the ways they relate. Roger can be reached at rbirkman@birkman.com.
