Roger W. Birkman Research Award
Annual Roger W. Birkman Award for Research Studies
Birkman International, Inc. is proud to sponsor the Annual Roger W.
Birkman Award for Research Studies. Birkman international is seeking the
submission of research studies reporting on the practical application of
The Birkman Method® in the areas of:
- Executive Coaching
- Leadership Development
- Team Building
- Career Guidance
- Academic Studies
Submissions are not limited to these topics, as Birkman International,
Inc. is dedicated to research excellence and to continue exploring how
personal perspective affects everyday living and accomplishment. Birkman
supports both internal and external research, and assists graduate
students in their academic pursuits. Birkman encourages submission
research topics that break new ground or delve significantly
deeper than our current applications or insights. Topics should be
generalizable, to some extent, to the larger Birkman community.
The contest is open to academics, students (undergraduate and graduate),
professors, non-profit researchers, and educators.
Each year the Birkman Research Team reviews and selects the top three
research papers that have used The Birkman Method®. Awards are given
to outstanding research papers demonstrating the utility of The Birkman
Method® in real-world settings. The first prize will consist of a
cash award of $2500. The second and third prizes will consist of a cash
award of $1500 and $1000, respectively. Birkman International and the
authors of the winning studies will have joint rights of use and
publication. The winning studies will be featured on the Birkman
International website and may be featured in promotional materials
distributed by Birkman International. Only those research proposals
specifically approved by Birkman International, Inc. are eligible to win.
Submissions should include a written proposal with a minimum of
500 words in APA format with a brief overview of the study. The proposal
should include an abstract, objectives of the project, hypotheses, a
list of milestones/deliverables, and the significance of the work.
Studies that indicate concrete and measurable results arising from the
project will be given preference in the selection process. The studies
should be no more than 5,000 words. For an applied research project,
begin the paper with a description of the situation and a strong problem
statement or thesis. The body of the paper should be comprised of the
problem solving sequence and the results. The conclusion should summarize
the impact of the research and/or intervention, what you learned and the
insights you gained in the process, and how you would improve your
process if you had to do it again.
Submission must be electronic in MS Word or PDF format and submitted to
lglee@birkman.com.
White papers submissions are due by 5:00 PM on December 15, 2008.
